Amazon Melbourne HQ

AUTHENTICALLY AMAZON

Davenport Campbell is proud to have designed Amazon's Melbourne Headquarters in the iconic 555 Collins Street precinct.

This 9,000sqm workplace celebrates the diversity of Melbourne and its people, captured in the concept of a 'Melbourne Playlist'. Each floor celebrates the eclectic nature of Melbourne, drawing inspiration from its art, fashion, music, travel, and food scenes. The design supports Amazon’s agile working principles, featuring dedicated client floors, a town hall space with tiered seating, and a dog park with a view.

The success of Amazon's Melbourne headquarters lies in the seamless integration of their Future of Work principles.  Davenport Campbell developed a series of pilot spaces that provided invaluable insights and paved the way for an innovative and inspiring environment. Variety and choice are foundational to the design, empowering employees to work in settings that best suit their needs. Beyond functionality, the workplace design fosters team spirit and collaboration through vibrant social spaces that are culturally relevant, reflecting Amazon's business ethos.

Designed with the wellbeing and social needs of the Amazon team at its core, the headquarters feature a generous terrace, a games room, and an integrated dog park. This mix of fun-filled and relaxing environments creates opportunities for employees to recharge and connect.

With over 75 original designs created by our graphics team, the environmental graphics were an exciting project of their own. These playful graphics brought to life the eclectic theme of the ‘Melbourne Playlist’, taking inspiration from the montage layouts of zines.

The signage package implemented Amazon's Global Standards across six floors, including over 1,500 items of wayfinding and identification signage, customised for each location. Amazon's leadership principles are highlighted throughout the space by illustration and typography, designed to engage and energise the Amazon team and their visitors.
