CELEBRATING NEURODIVERSITY
This week is Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2025. Davenport Campbell recognises that every mind is unique, and we continue to learn about and celebrate the diverse ways that people experience and interact with the world. By designing spaces that respect the senses, we can reduce stress and support the mental wellbeing of every employee. Our aim is to create environments where everyone can thrive.
What is Neurodiversity?
Neurodiversity describes the concept of people experiencing and interacting with the world in different ways.
There is no one ‘right’ way of thinking, learning, and behaving, and differences are not viewed as deficits.

Define the Space
As designers, we have the privilege of crafting and shaping spaces that support diverse sensory needs and enhance user experiences. By incorporating familiarity, variety, and thoughtful elements like furniture, we create environments that promote comfort, autonomy, and balance.

Environmental
Ways that environmental design can shape inclusive spaces. Sound, light and materials all play a vital role in creating environments that support focus, comfort, and sensory balance.
By considering acoustics, offering adjustable lighting, and using thoughtful materials, we can design workplaces that reduce sensory overload and enhance wellbeing. More and more of our clients are embracing inclusive design - swipe to learn how we are helping.

Stimulation
When designing with neurodiversity in mind, choice and variety is important in the workplace. Different levels of stimulation - whether low-sensory wellness rooms, focused workspaces, or high-energy social hubs - allow individuals to find environments that suit their needs.
By designing spaces with varying sensory experiences, we create workplaces that support productivity, wellbeing and inclusion. More and more of our clients are embracing inclusive design - swipe to learn how we are helping.
