DC TIMEOUT: MARCH 2023

What is going on?

Sunset Sessions
Until April 1st
Sunset Sessions is a series of family-friendly outdoor gigs on Cockatoo Island running from January 21 to April 1. Performers will be playing on the lawn of the Biloela House, where there will be grazing boxes and refreshments aplenty.

Running Saturdays from 5pm, this picnic-style series features home-grown talents. The diverse line-up will cover different genres and will include First Nations and LGBTQIA+ artists.
LOCATION: Cockatoo Island

Teleport
Until April 26th

A mixed-reality rite of passage to the mystical dimensions of a hi-tech alien tribe where you immerse yourself in the communion of the physical and digital realms under the guidance of cyber shamans.

Experience an eye-opening, technologically-induced ecstasy as you participate in the dynamics of light, sound, and movement. Learn about the intoxicating harmonies within and beyond your own imagination. Go on an immersive adventure that is both spontaneous and rigorously structured. It’s a transcendent vision quest you’ll never forget
LOCATION: Central Station

Behind The Lines
Until November 30th

This year, MoAD takes a giant leap into outer space with the theme Off the Planet, reflecting upon a year in which Australia re-opened to the world and we all burst from our living rooms, wide-eyed and asking the question ‘What else is out there?’

See how dozens of artists, including Political Cartoonist of the Year David Pope, have interpreted the year with wit, originality and tongue-in-cheek derision.
LOCATION: MoAD

Englighten Festival
Until March 19th

Canberra will shine bright with culture and creativity as the Enlighten Festival brings together the best autumn events. The city will come alive with a range of free and ticketed events, see the website for further details.
LOCATION: Various Locations

Arbory Afloat
Until May 31st

Following its winter hibernation, Melbourne’s OG floating bar and restaurant is returning for its seventh season on the Yarra. Last year, Arbory Afloat was decked out in the style of the picturesque Turquoise Coast in Turkey — and this year, it’s returning as a sun-drenched take on the Balearic Islands.

Instead of dropping thousands on a ticket to Ibiza, Menorca or Mallorca, you can enjoy a taste of the archipelago right here in Melbourne. The 69-metre space, which features two bars and an extensive upper deck pool club, is set to have its dreamiest design yet.
LOCATION: Yarra River
