FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ORGANISATION, NEWCASTLE

WHEN LIGHT AND WARMTH PREVAIL

“We are thrilled to have completed this workplace for a federal government organisation, celebrating wellbeing, hybrid working and creating seamless and intuitive connections between employees… We want to create a workplace that focuses on the human being before the human doing.”
- Darlene Perks, CEO

The project goal was to create a workplace that builds a supportive culture based on trust, openness, honesty, respect and care, and empowers their people to make decisions and innovate.

To do this we placed a town hall space at the heart of their 3-level workplace and intersected this space with an illuminated interconnecting stair. In this way people pass each other daily, stop to chat and share ideas.

This approach is helping to build a sense of belonging by also enabling people to work in open and collaborative ways, meet as a whole organisation, and socialise.

Access to large amounts of natural light, biophilic design elements, a simplicity of form, and a subtle palette provides warmth, comfort and a sense of wellbeing to the people who work there. Hand crafted finishes and the attention to every junction reference the Newcastle manufacturing heritage.
